
Day 01 - Madrid - Sevilla
Today you leave for lively and gorgeous Sevilla, the heart and pulse of Andalucia.
Travel in the comfortable and fast AVE train. Settle in your lovely accommodations
in one of Sevilla's typical haciendas/cortijos. Enjoy the comforts and Andalucian
hospitality. Tonight at a welcome dinner savor the regional cuisine.
Afterwards, start your tour of Sevilla with a panoramic night tour of this vibrant city and its main sites of interest, such as the magnificent Royal Gardens, La Plaza de Espana, a pavilion built for the International Fair in 1920, the former Tobacco Factory, Sevilla's bullfight ring and much more.
Day 02 - Sevilla
Spend the day getting to know this vibrant city. Visit Sevilla's imposing
Cathedral and the 7th century Moorish watch tower, La Giralda. This will be
followed by a visit to El Patio de los Naranjos, a unique Moorish garden lined
with orange trees over 600 years old.
Walk the old historic former Gypsy and Jewish quarter, before touring the Alcazar, a Moorish magnificent Palace originally built by the Moors in the 8th century and later expanded during the 14th century by King Peter the Cruel. It's presently used by the Spanish Monarchy as a residence when in Sevilla, and for special government functions.
See the Roman Governor Pontius Pilatus former home, before visiting the Church that holds the Virgin of Macarena, Sevilla's saint patron. After lunch, return to your hacienda and rest for a few hours. This evening we'll introduce you to the gay night life, when you step out and party with the local gay community in Sevilla's growing Pink district.
Day 03 - A Day in Sevilla's Country
Spend a glorious day visiting other nearby haciendas and cortijos. In these
haciendas you'll be shown their method of wine making and aging process, and
in the cortijos the local aspiring toreadores will demonstrate their techniques
and preparations needed to be chosen as bullfighters for each year's season.
During your visit savor the specialty dishes prepared only in haciendas. This
evening return to Sevilla for another night tour in the gay district.
Day 04 - Jerez de la Frontera
Today you leave for the white town of Jerez de la Frontera. Here you'll visit
the famed Domecq Bodegas and Gonzalez Byass, where you'll learn of their wine
aging process and sherry distillery methods, before tasting their variety
of wines and Jerez (sherrys).
After lunch in the heart of Jerez, continue to your lovely accommodations in a hacienda or cortijo owned by one of Jerez'established wine growers and sherry distributor's families.
Day 05 - Jerez de la Frontera
Then continue to visit the school where Arabian horses are bred, raised and
trained for the corridas de toros. End your tour as a special guest of the
Hacienda of the once famous Spanish bullfighter, Paquirri. After lunch, return
to your hacienda and relax.
Day 06 - Day in Ronda
This morning you spend the day traveling the route of the Andalucian white
villages. Visit different rustic towns en route to romantic Ronda perched
on the cliff, a favorite at one time, of writer Ernest Hemmingway. Start your
tour of this unique town by visiting the famed bullfight ring, the oldest
in Spain and the Taurino (bullfighters) Museum. Partake of a delicious lunch
and continue your walking tour of Ronda. Visit the historic Roman and Moorish
bridges, which offer breathtaking scenic views. Return late afternoon to Jerez.
Day 07 - Day in Cadiz
Spend the day in enchanting Cadiz by the Sea, once a prominent Moorish port
which has been called the oldest city in Europe, over three thousand years
old. It is surrounded totally by water therefore, it can be considered an
island. Here you'll visit the Baroque style Cathedral, the Palace Diputacion,
and the old prison La Carcel Real. Later you'll walk along the beautiful bay
where you'll enjoy lunch. See why Cadiz has been named the sister city to
Havana, Cuba. Return to Jerez late afternoon.
Day 08 - Jerez - Madrid
Today you will taken to the train station for your comfortable ride back to
Madrid.
