Day 01 - Madrid
Today you arrive to regal and cosmopolitan Madrid, Spain’s capital and
home to the largest gay and lesbian community in Spain. After you’ve
settled in your lovely and central accommodations, enjoy an evening panoramic
tour of this exciting city. This will be followed, by a special welcome dinner
hosted by Ms. Warren. Then join the group for a night out in the growing gay
district of Chueca, a city within a city that never sleeps. (D)
Day 02- Madrid
Spend the day becoming acquainted with old and regal Madrid when you visit
the magnificent Royal Palace and its Renaissance Gardens by the Opera House.
Later, continue with a walking tour of the old historic quarter ending in
the magnificent Plaza Mayor, embellished by the Spanish Master, Diego de
Velazquez.
After lunch, continue with a
comprehensive tour of the famed
El Prado Museum with its permanent
collection of Spanish masters.
Here you will admire the works
of Diego de Velazquez, Francisco
Goya, and Murillo along with
other European classic masters.
Tonight return to your favorite
spots in the Chueca district.

Day 03 – Madrid – Toledo
- Madrid
This morning you leave for magnificent Toledo, perched on a hill. Start with
a visit of its majestic Cathedral. This will be followed by a walking tour
where you will learn of the different monarchies that ruled from Toledo, leading
up to the sites of historic importance during the Spanish Civil War. Then visit
the former historic Jewish and Moorish Quarter, once a thriving community.
Continue with a visit of El Greco’s home, one of Spain’s most important
painters. See his greatest works housed in what is now a museum. When finished,
admire his masterpiece The Burial of Count Ordaz, which is housed in a separate
and permanent exhibition hall. Become acquainted with his painting techniques
and the present efforts in preserving this particular work. Then join the group
for a typical lunch Toledano style, before returning to Madrid. (B/L)
Day 04 – Segovia
- Salamanca
Today you leave for historic Segovia. Here you’ll explore this unique
city beneath its imposing and spectacular Roman Aqueduct, built in the year
200 A.D. and still functioning to this date. You will also visit Segovia’s
Alcazar, Spain’s most famous medieval Castle. Delight in the regional
specialties, when you enjoy a late lunch in one of Segovia’s established
restaurants. Some of these restaurants are over 400 years old, frequented by
culinary experts and favored by Spain’s Royalty. (B/L)
Later continue to the magnificent
medieval city of Salamanca, which
houses one of the oldest Universities
in Europe dating back to the
12th century and considered the
Oxford of the Spanish speaking
world.
Day 05 – Salamanca
Today get to know this enchanting city, where time doesn’t seem to pass.
Step into Spain’s medieval past and experience it when you visit this
majestic University. Then continue your tour of Salamanca with a visit to La
Plaza Mayor, one of the largest and most beautiful in Spain, sometimes used
as a bullfight ring.
This will be followed, by the famed medieval Casa de la Conchas, (House of
the shells) and many other wonderful sites of historical interest found in
this heritage city. This evening visit some of popular bars where gay Salamanca
meets. (B)
Day 06 – Wine
Country - Burgos
This morning you depart for medieval and historic Burgos where you’ll
spend the night in beautiful historic accommodations amidst this unique city.
En route, you will visit and enjoy lunch in one in one of the local and established
Bodegas where you’ll partake of wine tasting and learn of the process
of wine aging perfected by monks over 3000 years old. (B/L)

Day 07 – Burgos
Today you’ll visit Burgos’ monumental 13th century Cathedral, where
you’ll find the immortalized tomb and burial site of the Spanish figure
El Cid. Afterwards, continue your tour of this city and its beautiful promenade
lined with sculptures of medieval historic figures along the Arlanzon River.

Day 08 - Picos de Europa – Santillana
del Mar
Spend your day taking in the
natural beauty when you visit
Picos of Europa. Surround yourself
with the lush wild life found
in the region of Cantabria
as you travel through these mountains. End your day in the historic town of
Santillana del Mar, famous for it’s archeological findings. Tonight enjoy
the local specialties and the traditional settings of your accommodations in
a 17th century ancestral home. (B/D)
Day 09 – Santilla
del Mar
Today tour the historic town of Santillana where you will come to face with
many historic sites of archeological interest. This morning visit the main
archeological exhibition site of the famed Cuevas de Altamira, where you can
admire the beautiful and oldest primitive art in Europe, found in these caves.

Day 10 –Bilbao
Travel to Bilbao, the heart of the Basque Country and home of the magnificent
Guggenheim. Your private guide will take you through a detailed tour of this
impressive museum. Learn of the museum’s architectural design in addition
to visiting the permanent and current exhibits. After you’ve check
in your hotel, join the group for cocktails and Tapas by the gay district.

Day 11 – Bilbao – Day
in Santander by the Sea - Bilbao
Today enjoy a comprehensive tour of this wonderful city by the Sea. Spend a
glorious day with Ms.Warren, who will share with you some of the highlights
of her book and why this region in Spain inspired the love story in her book,
The Wild Man. Visit some of the sites mentioned in her book. The magnificent
Plaza de Toros (bullfight ring) the Cathedral, Santander’s impressive
Bay and the charming Pereda Promenade. Tonight join the group and Ms. Warren
for an authentic ‘Santanderino’ farewell dinner, in one of the
many popular restaurants which have established Santander, as a leader in world
cuisine. (B/D)
Day 12 – Fly back
home
This morning you will be driven to the airport, for your connecting flight
back home via Barcelona or Madrid.
